This Month In Fort McCoy History: May 2019

The Station Hospital at Camp McCoy, Wis., was closed May 20, 1947, in accordance with a recent letter from Fifth Army Headquarters. Effective May 15, 1947, all admissions to the Station Hospital other than acute emergencies were discontinued. A Station Dispensary continued to render medical attention to the personnel remaining on the post, and a limited number of beds were maintained for treatment of patients on a quarters status.

Hawaii Culinary Team Competes Overseas

Seven U.S. Army culinary arts specialists flew over 4,500 miles to be part of the contest.

The group, commonly referred to as Team Hawaii, is assigned to 25th Infantry Division and 8th Theater Sustainment Command, out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

3rd Infantry Division Soldier Honored Posthumously With Distinguished Service Cross For 2003 Heroism

Booker's mother and sister were presented with the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation's second highest award for valor, during a ceremony at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood -- near the University of Pittsburgh -- as Family, fellow Soldiers, city officials and veterans watched.

Cool App Empowers Sailors To Manage Their Careers

Navy COOL provides information about licenses and certifications applicable to all Navy occupations, offering resources and funding to help Sailors gain appropriate civilian desired, and in many cases, required credentials. Lieutenant General Charles D. Luckey assumed duty as the Chief of Army Reserve and Commanding General, United States Army Reserve Command on 30 June 2016.

Major General Tatu graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles where she attended on an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and was commissioned in the Signal Corps.
